What we love
- Same 440 lb payload as the LR in a shorter, more parkable frame
- 8 lbs lighter than the long-rack version
- Torque sensor and hydraulic brakes at $1,899
What we'd change
- Short tail limits what you can carry behind you
- No suspension seatpost
Our verdict
By Sean Lupton · August 12, 2026 · Scored 8.5/10 against how we score
Research-based verdict. This score is an editorial assessment built from spec analysis, verified owner reports, and independent third-party testing — not our own test ride (yet).
The Abound SR is the Abound for people without a garage — the same motor, battery and 440 lb payload in a frame short enough to fit a hallway or a lift.
The 8.5 tracks the LR closely, because mechanically it is the same bike: torque sensor, 750W hub with 1,188W peak, 733Wh, hydraulic brakes, UL 2849 certification. It scores slightly lower on utility — the short tail limits what you can carry behind you, and there is no suspension seatpost — and slightly higher on practicality, being 8 lbs lighter and considerably easier to store and park.
Choose the SR over the LR on storage constraints, not on price. The $100 saving is not the reason to pick it.
