For more than a decade we ran two of America's most important electric bike companies — on opposite ends of California, in opposite corners of the market. ElectricBikes.com is what came next.
The workbench, not the camera roll.
Between us, we have over 40 years of operating experience in the American electric bike industry — and we've designed, built, safety-tested, and delivered more than 75,000 fully assembled electric bikes across the USA. That means building bikes by hand, qualifying overseas suppliers, training service technicians, signing off on warranty claims, and standing up dealer networks across all 50 states. One of our companies grew into the largest e-bike-only dealer network in America and sold in a nine-figure transaction. The other hand-assembled cruiser e-bikes one at a time in Southern California for over a decade, owning the production process from the raw frame to a finished, road-tested bike delivered fully assembled to the customer's door.
That operational depth is the engine behind everything you read here. We've audited the factories. We've cracked open the battery packs. We've trained the techs. We've personally signed off on warranty claims for failure modes most reviewers have never seen. When we tell you a hub motor will overheat on a steep grade with a heavy rider, or that a BMS chip is the wrong one to trust on a bike you charge in your garage, we're not guessing — we wrote the claim.
The American e-bike market has changed dramatically in the last few years. Post-pandemic oversupply, tariff-circumventing imports routed through Cambodia and Vietnam, and a flood of subsidized inventory dumped below cost has gutted USA-based manufacturing. Dozens of American brands have closed in the same window. The bikes that replaced them often ship in flat-pack boxes with a YouTube assembly video and a warranty administered by a third party that disappears the moment something breaks.
Consumers deserve better information than what the affiliate-driven review industry has been giving them. That's the entire reason this site exists.
What we're building
An e-bike publication run by people who actually owned e-bike companies.
We don't take payment from brands for editorial coverage. We don't run sponsored "best-of" lists. We don't offer paid placement in our comparison engine. We tell you what we'd buy with our own money — and what we'd return tomorrow if we could.
Our reviews go where affiliate sites won't: serviceability scores, parts-availability grades, warranty-reality assessments, battery certification status (UL 2271 vs UL 2849), and a state-by-state laws database that's actually maintained. The questions every other site skips are the ones we lead with.
