Consumer Reports and our battery-fire guide give the same advice: use the charger that came with your bike, or a replacement from the same maker, and look for UL certification. A no-name charger with the right plug can still be the wrong charger.
Charge while you're awake and nearby, on a hard surface away from exits and anything flammable, and unplug once the battery is full. A faster charger saves time, but only use one your bike's maker lists as compatible with your battery.
