Saddle comfort is about width matching your sit-bone width, not about padding. Most bike shops will measure you for free. Once you know your number, the major brands (Specialized, Selle Italia, Brooks, Selle SMP, Ergon) all have a model in that width.
Leather (Brooks) saddles break in to your shape over the first 200 miles and last decades. Performance saddles (Specialized Power, Selle Italia SLR) prioritize anatomical relief channels. Cruiser saddles (Cloud-9) prioritize first-ride comfort. Pick the philosophy that fits your riding.
