Urban Arrow Recalls About 1,032 Cargo E-Bikes Over Seat-Post Bolt

Gazelle USA is recalling about 1,032 Urban Arrow cargo e-bikes (Family, Shorty, Cargo L/XL, Tender) sold 2016–2022 because the front seat-post clamp bolt can break. Stop riding and get a free replacement seat post and saddle.

If you ride an older Urban Arrow cargo e-bike, check your seat post today. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Gazelle USA announced a recall on October 1, 2026 (recall number 27-004) covering about 1,032 Urban Arrow cargo electric bikes sold in the U.S., plus about 134 sold in Canada.

According to the CPSC notice, the front bolt in the seat post clamping mechanism can break, causing the seat to become loose. That poses a fall hazard. The firm has received nine reports of damage or wear to the saddle–seat post connection. No injuries have been reported.

This post summarises the CPSC recall notice. It is not legal advice.

Start with which bikes are included. The recall covers the Urban Arrow Family (Black and White), the Urban Arrow Shorty (Black and White), the Urban Arrow Cargo L/XL (Black and White), and the Urban Arrow Tender 1000/1500 (White).

The bikes have an aluminum frame with a reinforced foam (EPP) cargo box, with Urban Arrow printed on the bottom of the box. The seat posts on the recalled bikes have two silver bolts. They were sold at specialty bike stores nationwide from 2016 through 2022 for about $9,000. The importer is Gazelle USA LLC of Santa Cruz, California, and the bikes were made in the Netherlands.

What to do, per the CPSC: stop using the recalled bike immediately, and contact Gazelle USA for a free replacement seat post and saddle. You can install it yourself with no special tools, or have an Urban Arrow dealer install it at no charge.

You will be asked to fill out a recall registration form, and you can find your nearest dealer at urbanarrow.com/dealers. Gazelle USA can be reached toll-free at 800-838-5388, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday; by email at recall.na@urbanarrow.com; or through the recall page at urbanarrow.com/en-na/recall.

The e-bike pros’ take: cargo e-bikes carry kids, groceries and gear, so a loose saddle is more than an annoyance. This recall is a good prompt for every cargo rider, whatever the brand.

Know your hardware. Look at your seat post clamp; on this recall, two silver bolts identify the affected post. Check bolts regularly, too — a quick look at the saddle, stem and cargo-box mounts before loaded rides catches wear early. Follow your manufacturer’s torque specs, or have a shop do it.

Register your bike with the manufacturer so recall notices reach you directly. And check CPSC recalls before buying a used e-bike: this one covers bikes sold as far back as 2016.
