The Charger5 is for the buyer replacing a car, not a bicycle — the same brief the Charger4 served, now on Bosch's Smart System with an 800Wh PowerTube and optional factory ABS.

The 9.5 reflects the category's best marks on build, range and safety: 85 Nm of Performance Line CX, four-piston Maguras, connected anti-theft, and German assembly quality that owner reports consistently bear out over years, not months. It concedes ground in exactly two places — the US-spec bikes are 20 mph Class 1, where the Charger4 offered a 28 mph HS variant, and the price with options clears $9,000 while the US dealer network stays thin.

If the budget exists and 20 mph is enough, this is the best all-round commuter we list. If 28 mph is non-negotiable, look at the Specialized Vado or Trek Allant+ instead.
